The History Of The Refugee Guild written by gouise now Known as happykrab |

It all started in the spring of 2002.
Mom and I were tried of the whinny and begging kids that seemed to be in all the guilds we had been in. Some of the guilds we joined were just getting started. They would start out real well and then fizzle right out to nothing.
We both wandered Neopia for nearly two years looking for a guild that was just right as the baby bear said.
I was guild less and put a note in my shop saying; I am looking for an adult guild. If you know of a good one please write to me. Well it wasn't long before a very nice lady wrote to me telling me to write to a friend of hers. She said this lady would send me invite to an adult guild.
Long story short.I joined the guild and was very happy. Here were all the adults and they did lots of interaction with each other. I HAD FRIENDS AT LAST! This was so cool! I was thrilled! Then Mom joined the same guild and things were almost perfect!
We both made lots of friends and laughed and shared our lives with each other, good and bad times with these people. We grew to love these people just like family. Both of us worried when someone was sick or hurt, and felt happiness for people with good news. It was great!
BUT ...
One morning we came in to find some of the members had been kicked out with what we felt was unfairness. One lady had no idea what happened she just found herself on the outside of the guild and was being accused of things she didn't do. At first a lot of us didn't even know she was gone, we didn't know what happened, the owner of the guild wouldn't tell us. We felt like we were being treated like kids. We didn't deserve this! The people that got booted out didn't deserve to be kicked out without being told why at the very least. This was unfair! Well, there was a BIG ruckus in this guild.!The people were getting mad! We wanted answers we were told to not post at our board about this,if you did you could be next to be booted. People were afraid to say anything!
The ones that got the boot were hurt and they were afraid to trust, they like us needed the friendships more than ever. We needed to be together to help each other understand what had happened and to help the ones that were hurt to know we cared for them and still supported them.
In anger I left that guild (after posting a blazing post at that guild board)
I had been taking care of my daughter Jeni's (jennery) account for over a year. She said she was tired of neopets and didn't want it anymore. I had it in the back of my mind she would change her mind and come back someday. That is why I kept up the account.
So on March 15th 2002, I went to that account and started a guild. I did that so that all of our friends would have a board to talk with each other. I never thought that we would have a real guild. I only intended it to be a place to leave a message for each other. I wrote to some of the people and Mom did the same, each one of us wrote to one or two of their favorite people.
One by one our friends left the other guild to join their friends in the Refugees. We started with a handful of people.
Mom and I both were very surprised that these people wanted to start a whole new guild and everyone pitched in and gave. For some it was NPs, and items for others it was their time but, the biggest was the caring encouragement that made it a go.
We have had our little bumps in the road with people not getting along with others. These people are asked to try to work it out with each other and then if is not possible then someone has to leave. Nothing is perfect, and there will be personality clashes now and again with lots of people in one place.
Mom and I have gone from being people that always were followers to leaders in just a few months. There is no way we could have ever done this or even wanted to without Carol,Vickie, and Vicki by our side. They all have given of themselves more than I can tell you.
They along with all of our friends have made The Refugee Guild a pretty nice place to come home to.
So, when you hear someone mention the other side of the street we are talking about the guild we came from, the reason we are Refugees. People from the other side of the street continue to join us today and there are those that have accounts in both guilds today. This is not a problem with either guild.
I am happy and proud to say that I am a REFUGEE,the rest is history yet to be.
The Refugee guild account as well as my gouise account were froze in late Feb. 2008 the guild would have been 6 years old on March 15th 2008. I opened new accounts my own personal one is happykrab and the guild account is betterhome and the guild's name changed to The Refugee Center.
